What is the difference between Commercial Base and Common Fill?
Commercial Base (often referred to as Road Base) is a carefully graded mix of crushed rock and fines engineered to compact tightly into a solid, load-bearing layer beneath asphalt or concrete. Common Fill consists of native soil or unscreened earth used primarily for bulk backfilling, raising ground levels, or filling large voids where strict engineered compaction specs are not required.
What size rock do I need for my drainage system?
For standard French drains, septic leach fields, and pipe bedding, 3/4” Washed or 1.5” Washed rock is recommended. The washed stone allows water to flow freely around pipes without clogging the system with fine silt or dust.
Why is Trackout Rock required on commercial construction sites?
