For gravel and decorative rock, these are recommended depths assuming normal conditions:
1 inch and below need to be around 2 inches deep, 1.5–2 inch gravel should be 3 inches, and 2–4 inch should be 4 inches deep.
The bigger the gravel size, the deeper it needs to be for good coverage.
